Protecting Workers from Hazards Associated with Welding, Cutting and Grinding. “Hot Work” includes types of work that include processes a source of ignition in instances where flammable materials may be present. Examples of hot work include welding, soldering, cutting, and grinding. If the process produces a spark, it is generally considered hot work. ASC believes proper safety training for employees operating equipment producing sparks, flames or potential arc flash hazards is critical for those conducting hot work.  employee proper hot work safety training if they plan to do any type of hot work.
